Nurse Practitioner for Nutrition Support
The Nurse Practitioner along with the medical team, coordinates comprehensive
care delivery of inpatient Nutrition Support Services. Writes and
orders TPN formulary, prescriptions for standard medications, laboratory,
radiographic studies and consultations. This role coordinates admissions
scheduling, diagnostic evaluations, follow-up exams, laboratory tests,
referrals to home care, social services, and other community agencies in
order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Obtains
histories and performs physical exams. Assesses the patient's/significant
others, health care teams educational needs and develops, implements, evaluates
and revises teaching strategies/educational programs related to Nutrition
Support on an out patient setting. Communicates, collaborates, networks
and acts as a consultant to other members of the health care team for Spectrum
Health.
The Nurse Practitioner must hold a RN and Nurse Practitioner license
in the state of MI. Master's degree in Nursing or health related
field required. CPR certification is also required. Advanced Cardiac
Life Support as appropriate for patient population. ASPEN certification
must be completed within 12 months of date of hire.
At least three years current, relevant clinical experience required.
Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner or collaborative role preferred.
